Access to Police Officer and Staff Payslips
A decision has been made by the Chief Constable of Essex Police in October 2022, that payslips will not be routinely sent to individual employee’s home addresses, with two exceptions. Payslips will now be accessed via SAP (Business Services Enterprise Resource Planning software) online, via police issued ICT. Currently, the two exceptions to this decision – who will still receive their payslip by post – will be Essex Police pensioners and any employees on suspension.
Employees are asked to access their payslips regardless of their current work status. This will ensure that IT accounts are kept active – during periods of extended leave – and increases the security of the provision of a payslip (without the processing of printing and posting).
Those employees who have not been issued with police-ICT you will need to contact Essex Police Payroll via email (via your own/personal mobile or laptop) to request a copy of the payslip.
Further, these changes also apply to the issuing of P60s (end of year certificate), this details your taxable salary and income tax.
To confirm, there is no obligation to provide paper copies of payslips – further information can be found on Gov.uk. These changes have been implemented to increase the security of the personal data contained within the payslip/P60, and also for saving and efficiency purposes.
