Aim: Opportunity for members of the public to provide feedback on the way in which Essex Police handles complaints.
This Specific Privacy Notice has been created to make it easier for you to understand what personal data Essex Police processes about you, how and why it will be used in connection with Historical Data Wash (HDW). It is a requirement of the Data Protection Act 2018 (DPA) and UK General Data Protection Regulation (UK GDPR).
It is subordinate to, and should be read in conjunction with, the force’s high-level Privacy Notice.
The high-level Privacy Notice provides you with complete details of the rights you have relating to the personal data we hold about you now and any personal data we might collect about you in the future.
If you require this Specific Privacy Notice in Braille or in another language, please contact the Force’s Data Protection Officer (contact details below).

Opportunity for members of the public to provide feedback on the way in which Essex Police handles complaints. This initiative seeks to improve our handling of complaints – including collect data on ‘protected characteristics’ so that fairness of treatment and opportunity can be monitored. This is a retrospective view of the complaints system, so that the complainant can be assured that their view will not affect the outcome of their complaint.

For clarity, there are no fields that mandate a response within the feedback survey – therefore the complainant can choose to provide feedback anonymously.
