GoodSAM Rapid Video Response (RVR) is an immediate and optional video frontline response service.
This Specific Privacy Notice has been created to make it easier for you to understand what personal data Essex Police processes about you, how and why it will be used in connection with Rapid Video Response (RVR), which is an immediate and optional video frontline response service provided by the Force Control Room. This Privacy Notice is a requirement of the Data Protection Act 2018 (DPA).
It is subordinate to, and should be read in conjunction with, the appropriate high-level Privacy Notice for Essex Police.
The high-level Privacy Notice provides you with complete details of the rights you have relating to the personal data we hold about you now and any personal data we might collect about you in the future.
If you have no access to the internet and require access to the high-level Privacy Notice, please contact the Essex Police’s Data Protection Officer (contact details below) and they will provide a copy to you. The team will also facilitate the provision of the Privacy Notice in large font, or Braille, or published in other languages.

Essex Police’s legal basis for processing your personal data is based on its Common Law Policing Purpose of protecting life and property, preserving order, preventing the commission of offences, bringing offenders to justice, and any duty or responsibility of the police arising from common or statute law.
In terms of Section 35(2) of the DPA the processing is necessary for the performance of a task carried out for a Law Enforcement purpose by Essex Police or another competent authority.

Any disclosure/sharing of video footage (data) collected as part of the Rapid Video Response initiative will be done do in accordance with data protection legislation.
Where this data is required for criminal proceedings, it is likely to be shared with the Crown Prosecution Service (CPS), and where appropriate, with legal representatives. Should this information be required for civil litigation purposes, the data will only be provided upon receipt of a court order.
