We are committed to providing a safe and secure environment. We work to provide a safe environment where young people can:
An Assistant Chief Constable holds the role of our designated responsible officer who is accountable for the safe delivery of our programme. Our volunteer police cadet manger oversees the safety of all those involved in our programme.
The adult volunteers who support our cadet units, agree to uphold the highest standards in child safeguarding, protection and supervision. They are police vetted and are required to hold an enhanced Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS) certificate.
Our cadet leaders undergo regular training, which includes training specific to the volunteer police cadet programme. They also undertake training to become level two accredited in safeguarding children.
If you have a safeguarding question about our volunteer police cadet programme, or if you have a concern about the safety or behaviour of anyone involved in our cadet programme, and no one is in immediate danger, please contact our police cadet safeguarding team.
If you have a safeguarding concern about someone who isn't involved in our police cadet programme, please go to our how to report possible child abuse page.
