We are closely monitoring the impact of the virus on all our recruitment activities.

Scheduled briefings, interviews, assessments, outreach events and support programmes are being kept under continual review and may be changed at short notice.

Our priority is to make sure you are informed, safe and supported so ask all candidates and new joiners to check back to this page for the latest position in relation to the various recruitment activities being undertaken.

Many recruitment processes are continuing to operate as we have taken significant steps to reduce the risk of infection for all visitors and personnel.

You will find our main recruitment processes outlined below and how any changes may affect you.

Police Officer

  • Intakes – the intake on 15 June is continuing as normal. Please check your emails regularly for any updates.
  • Briefings – all briefings will be conducted virtually.  Please check you emails regularly as we will send out further information.
  • SEARCH Assessment –SEARCH assessments have now been postponed whilst the College of Policing determine alternatives. If you were due to attend a SEARCH assessment you should have been notified that these have been postponed and as soon as alternative arrangements are confirmed, we will be in touch with you.
  • Interviews - All interviews will be moving to a virtual platform. If you were due to attend an interview you will be contacted with further information by email and sent a link for your scheduled interview directly from the recruitment team.
  • Medicals and Fitness tests – all medicals and fitness tests have been postponed and will be rearranged. All candidates affected will be contacted personally by the recruitment team.

Detective Fastrack

  • Intakes – the intake on 2 November is continuing as normal. Please check your emails regularly for any updates.
  • Briefing - all briefings will be conducted virtually. Please check your emails regularly as we will send out further information.
  • SEARCH Assessment - SEARCH assessments have now been postponed whilst the College of Policing determine alternatives. If you were due to attend a SEARCH assessment you should have been notified that these have been postponed and as soon as alternative arrangements are confirmed we will be in touch with you.
  • Interviews - all are continuing as planned.
  • Medicals and Fitness tests – all medicals and fitness tests have been postponed and will be rearranged. All candidates affected will be contacted personally by the recruitment team.

Police Community Support Officer (PCSO)

  • Intakes/Interviews/Medicals/Fitness tests – There are no current vacancies for this role.

Special Constabulary

  • Intakes - the intake on 4 April has been postponed. Please check your emails regularly for any updates from us over the next few days. The remaining intakes will remain under review  and you will be contacted by email with an update.
  • Interviews - all interviews will be moving to a virtual platform. If you were due to attend an interview you will be contacted with further information by email and sent a link for your scheduled interview directly from the recruitment team.
  • Medicals and Fitness tests – all medicals and fitness tests have been postponed and will be rearranged. All candidates affected will be contacted personally by the recruitment team.

Force Control Room (FCR)

  • Intakes - the intake on 22 June is continuing as normal. Please check your email regularly for updates.
  • Interviews - the assessment on 3 April has been postponed and will be rearranged. All candidates affected will be contacted personally by the recruitment team.

Detention Officer

  • Intakes - the intake of 17 April is continuing as normal. Please check your emails regularly for any updates.
  • Interviews - There are no scheduled interviews currently.

Resolution Centre

  • Intakes - the intake on 7 September is continuing as normal. Please check your emails regularly for any updates.
  • Interviews - assessments have been postponed and will be rearranged. All candidates will be contacted personally by the recruitment team.

All other roles

  • Recruitment activity is continuing as far as reasonably possible utilising virtual options.
