The Criminal Justice and Offender Management Command is responsible for the administration, preparation and processing of all prosecution files from submission by a police officer through to finalisation and disposal.
The work of the department falls into three main areas but police officers are primarily focussed in one area:
There are a number of custody suites within the force and officers within the Custody Command are responsible for the welfare of people we detain. Custody is an integral part of Essex Police and works closely with LPAs and partners to support investigations and seek to bring detainees to a point where they can be accountable to the criminal justice process.
From observing suspects in the cells - To logging evidence on the system of stolen items, drugs and more - To ensuring the safety of those in our custody cells.
