Tell us a bit about yourself
I am a Sergeant on the Taser Training Team. My biggest achievement in work was passing the firearms course, having never held a firearm before it was a big deal for me!
My hobbies include keeping fit at the gym and playing netball, and being bossed around by my 2 year old mini-me!
What do you enjoy most about your role?
I love going out on jobs when I can, but I do enjoy the planning side of my role and taking on new projects. My role allows flexibility for me to be a mum and do the things I enjoy.
Why is diversity and inclusion so important in and outside of the workplace?
It’s really important for the community to see that, like them, we are also a diverse workforce. Each individual can bring something different and it’s good for the public to see that the police are individuals too.
Were there any barriers to joining Essex Police?
No.
How has Essex Police as an organisation supported you in your career?
I am a longstanding member of the Women’s Leadership and Development Forum executive team, so have some really useful contacts that have provided me mentoring and advice.
What advice would you give to anyone thinking about joining Essex Police?
Any role or specialism is possible and open to everyone.
