Positive Action Discovery Events

Are you from an under-represented community? Are you interested in becoming a Police Officer?

At Essex Police we are committed to recruiting a workforce which better reflects our communities we serve.

We are working hard to encourage those from under-represented communities to consider policing as a career. A career in policing offers the opportunity to be able to make a real difference. It is proven that diverse, inclusive teams make better decisions and are more innovative.

We are committed to increasing the number of Black, Asian and Minority Ethnic officers and female officers and staff to be more reflective of the economically active population in Essex.

The Positive Action Team will be hosting two workshops on Monday 9 August 2021 for those considering a career in policing.

We will discuss the role of an officer and the benefits of joining Essex Police. This workshop will also give those from diverse backgrounds an opportunity to openly discuss any additional concerns.

Female workshop

Sgt Anne Bray works on the Positive Action Team and will host a female-only workshop on Monday 9 August between 11am and 12pm. Anne will provide information on what it is like to be a female officer working for Essex Police.

Black, Asian and Minority Ethnic workshop

Sgt Simon Miah works on the Positive Action Team and will host a Black, Asian and Minority Ethnic community workshop on Monday 9 August between 12pm and 1pm. Simon is from an ethnic minority background and will provide information on what it is like being a Black, Asian and Minority Ethnic background working for Essex Police.

If you are, or know of anyone that is interested in becoming a police officer, please register by sending us an email, [email protected]

We look forward to hearing from you.
