Thank you for your interest in transferring or rejoining Essex Police as a Special Constable.
Special Constables in Essex have amazing opportunities to serve. We have Specials embedded in local policing, supporting the response teams and working within community policing teams. We have Specials at Stansted Airport, integrated within our Operational Support Group, supporting our Dog and Marine sections and playing a crucial frontline role in our Roads Policing Teams. Whatever team Specials are a part of they are supported with the same core training, providing opportunities to improve investigation skills, police public order, drive to an advanced level, learn traffic law and study disruptive effects.
Essex Police has invested in its training and support teams, providing dedicated trainers to improve learning and development and local coordinators to give extra full time support and direction to our teams. We still have an effective rank structure which focuses on leading and managing other volunteers and who have access to formal in-force leadership training.
If you’re thinking of transferring to us, or have previously served with us and would like to re-join, then please scroll down to check out the next steps. We want to deliver great policing in Essex by giving the best possible volunteer experience for our Specials. Come and be part of that experience.
