Main purpose of the role:
To co-ordinate, develop, plan and deliver training within Stansted Airport Division, in accordance with the annual policing plan. Liaise with EPC to ensure divisional training is complimentary, supportive and consistent with EPC standards.
Manage, co-ordinate and deliver classroom-based and practical training for police officers and support staff in the division.
Organise divisional training in accordance with the divisional annual plan, operational priorities and training from the centre, as agreed with the divisional Training and Development Group.
Document training delivery and ensure relevant records are maintained.
In liaison with managers and supervisors, utilise your knowledge, skills and experience as a police officer to develop the content and resources necessary to deliver appropriate training.
Maintain an up-to-date knowledge of force policies and procedures, current legislation, police training issues (local and national) and incorporate into training as necessary.
Be responsible for the running of the Learning Resource Centre and actively promote its use as a training resource.
Produce and deliver the annual training plan in conjunction with the Support Manager.
Develop and sustain liaison with EPC and other relevant external training organisations.
Undertake training needs analysis in liaison with managers, including special needs training as required.
Promote equal opportunities and CRR issues in all aspects of training.
Actively market the training function in respect of disruptive passenger handling training to airport companies and managing agents. Develop training package in accordance with customer requirements. Deliver training at agreed venues.
Deal with all members of the public and colleagues in a calm, professional, non-judgemental, non-discriminatory manner, being mindful of diversity and integrity issues and challenging inappropriate behaviour.
Represent Essex Police on airport committees and working groups as required. Undertake presentations to these groups where necessary.
Will be expected to provide operational cover when required and in order to maintain operational expertise.
Undertakes such other reasonable duties as may be required from time to time.

Generally working a straight shift between Monday and Friday but there will be some weekend working. The postholder will need to be flexible in hours to work to meet the varied requirements of the job, as well as operational commitments. This is a uniformed position although it may be necessary to wear plain clothes occasionally. The post is based at Stansted Airport Division but may be required to travel countywide and countrywide. Work from shared office in Enterprise House. You will be expected to attend the 10-day Trainer Skill course at EPTC.
