Main purpose of the role:
Develop and support police and multi-agency plans/operations to reduce the avaliability and prosecute offenders for the supply of Class A and B drugs.
Divisional drug single point of contact.
Divisional drug advisors.
Maintaining strategic drugs related partnership Links.
Preparation of reports and evidential drugs expert witness statements.
Statement coordination and maintenance of relevant computer systems.
Court attendance to present evidence.
Perform comprehensive case reviews.
Alerts re dangerous substances.
Training internal training and support only.
Tactical operations broad, tactical and multi-agency targeted operations.
Provide guidance, policy and intervention frameworks including maintenance of force drugs intranet pages.
Monitor compliance with national and force drugs policies.
Monitor costs and identify potential savings and efficiencies.
Conduct cannabis identification and EDIT testing.
Officers will be expected to use their own vehicles when police vehicles are not available in order to attend meetings, events, stations etc. You will be an authorised casual mileage user and all mileage claims must adhere to the Mileage user decision making tree on SAP.

Drugs (Level 4)
Has detailed knowledge of all types of drugs and paraphernalia used to administer and manufacture illegal substances. Has specialist knowledge of drugs related offences, relevant legislation, the evidence required to support further investigation and draws upon the support and assistance of other experienced officers and interested agencies. Regularly and effectively participates in operations which tackle the investigation of drug related crime. Aware of drugs profit confiscation legislation and basic informant handling procedures.

Has a basic understanding of Health and Safety issues affecting the current role and working environment. Takes responsibility for personal safety and the safety of others. Aware of hazards and reports problems identified to line manager. Understands and minimises the physical risk of injury through the use of proper manual handling procedures.

Management of Police Information (MOPI) (Level 4)
Full compliance with Level 3. Has successfully completed all standard relevant Information Management and Security training package(s). Accurate use of Government Security Classification (GSC). Ensures physical and digital records are stored with appropriate security relevant to the sensitivity of the documents and has working understanding of appropriate National Retention Schedules. Is able to quality assure own records management processes as well as those of any staff for whom they have supervisory responsibility. Is aware of where to seek further support in relation to Records management within force when necessary. If nominated as an Information Asset Assistant is familiar with the NPCC Information Asset Owners Handbook.
Project Management (Level 3)
Demonstrates an understanding of the key principles of project management. Able to assist in the management of projects within a Department or Division where the objectives, milestones and timescales have already been defined and manpower resources are limited. Will need project management support.
Risk Management (Level 3)
Demonstrates an awareness of personal risk management issues, challenges or difficulties likely to affect the post holder in the execution of their duties. Able to anticipate risks likely to affect their work and knows how to communicate the likelihood and possible impacts of such events to line managers or supervisors.

Able to present and convey ideas and new/ revised procedures, on a one to one or group basis, to a logical and well structured plan. Aware of a variety of training techniques, tools and principles.
