Facilitate the design, development and delivery of computer simulated training scenarios for a variety of courses i.e. Firearms, Road Traffic etc to all levels of staff within Kent Police, Essex Police and external Forces/organisations, ensuring the provision of high quality -real life- training programmes. Provide the technical expertise to transform new concepts and exercises into computer based scenarios for training and ensure that the computer and multimedia equipment is maintained in good working order.
Facilitate the development, design and production of computer simulated training scenarios for all levels of staff, both internal and external, assisting the relevant course director involved in the management of a variety of incidents e.g. firearms, road crash etc., ensuring scenarios are realistic, relevant and accurately test the level of knowledge, expertise and skill of participants.
Assist with the delivery of simulation scenario training courses, working closely with the experts, adapting the scenario as the exercise progresses and facilitating plenary sessions, enabling the assessment of course participants knowledge and skills and the identification of areas for further development.
Research, develop, review, assess and evaluate the content, material and performance of the course, the experts, guest speakers, and staff used during the exercises to ensure the continual development of the course and the provision of the highest quality training in this field.
Ensure changes to working practices within the Force, including procedural changes etc, are updated on all scenarios used on courses to ensure they maintain their relevance and reflect current working practices and procedures.
Contribute to the development of simulated training, representing the Force as required, in order to advance and develop innovative learning strategies, introduce new ideas, and ensure continual development of the existing Hydra system, researching new and emerging technologies and equipment in the arena of computerised simulation, making recommendations and advising on the suitability of any potential systems, in order to provide consultation and advisory support and assist with the continued provision of high quality cost effective training.
Support the delivery and design of production of PowerPoint, Word and other software applications, slidesor text based materials for a wide range of courses in relation to communication, information and briefing purposes, in order to support computer based training delivery.
Ensure that all computer, audio/video, multi-media equipment and peripherals are installed and maintained in good working order, ensuring the maximum availability at all times throughout the duration of the course. This will include fixing/resolving any system and equipment faults, which occur during the course.
Perform essential functions in response to a role held within the Strategic Co-ordination Centre in order to ensure effective delivery of these additional high-profile Force responsibilities.
The post holder needs to have a proven track record in relation to technical abilities in Windows based systems such as Multi Media software, other systems such as Apple and a good understanding of the technical workings of audio and video equipment. Ideally the post holder should have a qualification in multimedia work e.g. Multimedia and image making Diploma or equivalent although this is not essential.
The post holder should have the abilities to develop course material and content from a real life operational incident to a scenario.
The post holder should have a good understanding of Force Policy, Procedure, and the policing environment and working practices that affect the simulated scenario areas.
A good comprehension of training in particular strategies, guides, plans and the ability to deliver training on a wide range of subjects.
The ability to understand and develop information technology that supports the delivery of the training is essential.

Able to provide advice and assistance to technical support staff on detailed technical issues. Can effectively monitor subcontractors undertaking data network cabling work and liaise with suppliers to resolve faults and identify alternative solutions.
ICT - Programming, Analysis & Design (Level 5)
Has a detailed knowledge of several programming environments and is able to undertake detailed analysis, specification and design for other programmers to undertake work. Understands and applies software standards and analysis methodology as appropriate.
ICT - Systems Implementation (Level 3)
Able to integrate and configure diverse hardware, software and network components into a working system in line with detailed specifications. Proficient in one or more major components of a system, e.g. Microsoft Office.
Information Gathering and Analysis (Level 5)
Information gathered is sufficient, valid and reliable and is consistent with the organisation's values, policies, guidelines and procedures. Able to deal with situations when information is insufficient, contradictory or ambiguous. Able to organise and interpret information so that conclusions can be drawn.
Information Management and Technology (Level 4)
Can conduct basic computer searches and can correctly interpret data generated. Can create and amend records, according to role requirement. Knows established rules and protocols. Understands impact of data quality, and is self-monitoring on data quality issues.

Knowledge of Legislation and Policy (Level 4)
Has a thorough understanding of all legislation, policy and procedure relevant to the current role. Able to apply this and offer advice to colleagues as necessary.
Management of Police Information (MOPI) (Level 4)
Full compliance with Level 3. Has successfully completed all standard relevant Information Management and Security training package(s). Accurate use of Government Security Classification (GSC). Ensures physical and digital records are stored with appropriate security relevant to the sensitivity of the documents and has working understanding of appropriate National Retention Schedules. Is able to quality assure own records management processes as well as those of any staff for whom they have supervisory responsibility. Is aware of where to seek further support in relation to Records management within force when necessary. If nominated as an Information Asset Assistant is familiar with the NPCC Information Asset Owners Handbook.
Office Technology (Level 5)
Expert in the use of one or more office software products. Is proficient in the use of these packages to significantly enhance the quality and/or presentation of work required within the role. This is likely to relate to the use of spreadsheet, database or desktop publishing packages and may include the manipulation of reports, moving data between applications, using scanning or optical storage peripherals, etc. to make the best use of information Recognises and makes the best possible use of office systems and/or understands how office systems can be used to improve the way work is undertaken.
Photography and Digital Imaging (Level 4)
Demonstrates a sound working knowledge of all aspects of photographic and digital imaging. Plans, prepares and undertakes assignments in a range of standard and non - standard situations. Aware of the technical products available that will enhance the final image. Uses colour, exposure, framing, lighting and printing techniques to produce results that meet client needs. Identifies processing and printing faults and is aware of their causes and treatments. Understands the range of different presentation, storage and retrieval techniques to ensure the physical care of images and minimise the risk of damage. Is capable of offering photographic advice to colleagues.
Risk Management (Level 3)
Demonstrates an awareness of personal risk management issues, challenges or difficulties likely to affect the post holder in the execution of their duties. Able to anticipate risks likely to affect their work and knows how to communicate the likelihood and possible impacts of such events to line managers or supervisors.
Training (Level 4)
Understands the various principles and methods of training and utilises them effectively. Creates, structures and delivers training from a basic outline or a previously identified skills gap. Able to tailor the training to address the needs of the group to be trained. Able to deliver a range of training courses/ packages on related subjects.
