Co-ordinate a wide range of activities undertaken by the Intelligence Support Team within the Operational Centre for Public Protection and facilitate distribution of information and intelligence in and out of the OC, maintaining good links with key partner agencies, in order to ensure the provision of high quality intelligence which effectively, efficiently and comprehensively supports operational policing and ensures objectives/priorities are met. Co- ordinate the provision of bespoke and specialist research to fully support Police Public Protection operations and investigations and to provide Public Protection officers and staff with information required to support them in performing their role effectively and safely.

The OC Intelligence Co-ordinator must have a detailed knowledge of the Intelligence data evaluation process, the National Intelligence Model (NIM) and Management of Police Information (MOPI), together with substantial experience of working within a sensitive intelligence environment.
Whilst particular qualifications are not required for this post, it is expected that the post holder will have at least 3 - 5 years prior experience of working in an intelligence environment, ideally within a Police Service or Public Protection arena. Previous experience of identifying and highlighting development opportunities that relate to emerging issues and risks would be desirable as would experience of supervising and supporting a team.
Prior knowledge of other related national legislation (e.g. data protection), RIPA, Force policy, information sharing protocols and working practices and procedures are desirable.
The role holder must possess personal motivation and drive, excellent interpersonal skills, as well as the ability to form strong working relationships with both internal colleagues and external organisations/professional bodies.
The role holder must be able to plan and prioritise their own, and their teams workload, manage multiple demands and competing priorities often to short deadlines. Attention to detail is vital. The role holder must be methodical in recording their rationale and thought process for audit and disclosure purposes and be able to produce accurate information and reports within agreed deadlines. Strong verbal and written communication, team and leadership skills are essential.
A willingness to positively adapt to, encompass and manage change will be a necessary behavioural trait, especially during the early days and months of the OC when work processes will be refined.
The role holder must be proficient in the use of IT, although training will be provided for more specialist systems.

Has received Supervisor training and takes responsibility for the safety of directly subordinate staff and visitors. Full compliance with Level 3. Has successfully completed all standard relevant Information Management and Security training package(s). Accurate use of Government Security Classification (GSC). Ensures physical and digital records are stored with appropriate security relevant to the sensitivity of the documents and has working understanding of appropriate National Retention Schedules. Is able to quality assure own records management processes as well as those of any staff for whom they have supervisory responsibility. Is aware of where to seek further support in relation to Records management within force when necessary. If nominated as an Information Asset Assistant is familiar with the NPCC Information Asset Owners Handbook.
Has a thorough understanding of research methods and is able to fully utilise these for a range of research projects. Able to analyse reports and data produced by other individuals/ organisations and extract relevant details to support the project in hand. Produces a range of options for consideration. Aware of the financial, organisational and service delivery implications of options.
Able to anticipate, accurately define and establish the relative level of risk likely to affect their specialist function, in terms of likelihood and impact, together with how the challenges facing the wider organisation might affect their role within the force. Assesses the risks of national initiatives providing feedback at the relevant level. Has an understanding of pathways to alert all appropriate senior managers to flawed or ineffective control strategies and provide continuity/recovery options. Has an appreciation that seizing opportunities also generates risks.
