Main purpose of the role:
Analyse the environment, including scanning of Government and Home Office websites, European directives, Authorised Professional Practice (APP) and legislation to ensure stakeholders and policy owners are sighted and that relevant policies are updated and re-published as required. Engage and work with external partners such as academic institutions, HMIC, IOPC and OPCC in order to identify and disseminate best practice according to national guidance and standards. Provide support for the implementation of Home Office, ACPO and NPIA recommendations in respect of the assessment and management of risks posed to relevant victims, investigation and the sharing of information with other agencies. Collate and produce management information and statistics as required internally, for the Home Office, HMIC, OPCC and other agencies as required acting as a single point of contact for such scrutiny organisations. Attend single and multi-agency strategic and operational meetings to improve the performance and delivery of services to vulnerable victims across the county. Providing a central function to coordinate improvement activity relating to Public Protection ensuring there is a single, coherent integrated plan for improvements. Producing and reviewing Public Protection policies and procedures and supporting officers and staff across the Force in their application.

This role requires an excellent understanding of IT platforms including Word, Excel, PowerPoint and SharePoint to ensure maintenance and tracking of large databases.
A good understanding of police policies and procedures will be required. Excellent written and verbal communication skills to ensure reports, meetings and briefings are delivered to high professional standards.
The role holder should have good interpersonal skills and the confidence and ability to engage with key stakeholders to contribute to changes and/or development of new policies in line with legislative requirements.
Excellent analytical and research skills are essential for this role.
It is desirable that the postholder should also have experience of safeguarding vulnerable persons.
