Provide investigative support to the Police Online Investigation Team (POLIT) who are responsible for investigating online sexual offences against children by researching, gathering and obtaining evidence and intelligence through a variety of means.

The post holder will also be required to complete a Personal Development Portfolio evidencing their competency against the criteria of the role of an Investigation Support Officer.
It is desirable that the post holder will have recent experience of criminal investigations, conducting interviews and taking statements in investigative processes.
The post holder must have a high degree of flexibility to accommodate operational needs, be highly motivated, pro-active and possess excellent communication skills in order to deal with a wide range of situations and people throughout the spectrum of society, involving officers, members of the public and other organisations. The post holder must also have the ability to build and maintain positive working relationships with colleagues.
The post holder must be able to effectively prioritise their workload and able to work without close supervision and have the ability to work under pressure and manage and meet deadlines and manage multiple customer requirements and cases simultaneously therefore proficient organisational skills are essential.
The post holder must have good working knowledge of IT applications and systems used by the organisation necessary for the execution of their work. Ideally the post holder will have a good working knowledge of specific force intelligence systems such as Intel and PNC, although training can be provided.
This role is a designated post. A high level of integrity is required due to the confidential and sensitive material dealt with by the post holder.
The post holder will be required to travel throughout the county as part of their duty.
The post holder must be flexible and prepared to work extended hours at short notice as required in order to support urgent operational needs.
The post holder requires good technical and practical knowledge of computers and must be willing to undertake CAID and Image grading software training. The post holder must be able to work effectively alongside several external agencies.
The post holder will be required to engage in annual welfare checks to identify early onset of any psychological issues.
Maturity, confidence and professionalism are necessary in order to deal with a wide range of situations and good verbal and written communication skills are preferable to perform this role.
Ability to work as part of a team as well as work unsupervised.
The completion of the 3 day public protection course, Dash and Thrive training are essential for this role. Knowledge surrounding the National Decision Making Model (NDM) is preferable.

The post holder will be required to undergo vetting and will be subject to yearly vetting assessments.

Can drive police vehicles following an authorisation test. Undertakes checks to ensure roadworthiness of vehicles before use including, tyre pressures, lights, fuel, oil and water. Completes vehicle mileage logs. Ensures that the vehicle is kept clean and tidy. Ensures security of police vehicles when leaving unattended. Conforms to all relevant legal requirements for the use of motor vehicles.
