Main purpose of the role:
Identify current and emerging issues relating to Modern Slavery, gathering and analysing intelligence in order to present options and recommendations for consideration that will support effective performance and planning by Kent and ssex Police including management of the Anti-Slavery Partnerships. Co-ordinate partnership working to ensure an effective joint response to Modern Slavery within Kent and Essex and champion improvements with key stakeholders to meet the strategic aims of the Anti-Slavery Partnerships. Reports directly to Prevent and Protect Supervisor role, Kent and Essex Serious Crime Directorate.
Co-ordinate the partnership activities relating to Modern Slavery, particularly the Anti-Slavery Partnerships, building and maintaining effective working relations with stakeholders, representing Kent and Essex Police as required, rganising meetings and providing working party secretarial support as appropriate, to ensure a proactive, cohesive and streamlined response to Modern Slavery issues that support policing and partnership targets.
Research and analyse information relating to Modern Slavery, identifying trends both current and emerging, making recommendations to the Anti- Slavery Partnerships as appropriate, in order to enable a range of tactical options to be veloped thereby informing the force strategic plans to support force aims and objectives with regards to Modern Slavery.
Conduct environmental scanning, highlighting ideas, trends or threats in Modern Slavery such as changes in legislation or the results of academic research, both national and international, and disseminating this information to internal nd external stakeholders in order to support the effective planning and allocation of police and partnership resources.
Drive the implementation of Modern Slavery related projects and initiatives, researching issues and options, producing problem profiles, making recommendations as appropriate, to enable informed decisions to be made e.g. with regards to pecific tactics adopted to ensure project aims and objectives are achieved.
Manage, develop and support the activities of the Anti-Slavery Partnerships in Kent and Essex, working withexternal stakeholders, to deliver the Modern Slavery Action Plan in both local authorities.
Research, develop and revise policy relating to Modern Slavery as required, ensuring it complies with legislation and best practice in order to provide a sound framework for activities tackling Modern Slavery.
Maintain and actively update knowledge of developments within the fields of Modern Slavery and the progress of Force initiatives, re- organisations and reviews, in order to maintain the provision of high quality analysis and information service to the Kent and Essex Police.
The post holder will have a good general education and will be qualified to a minimum of A level. This will be supported by a sound working knowledge of working in a partnership based role, securing stakeholder support for common aims.
They will have a detailed understanding of legislation, policy, working practices and procedures relating to Modern Slavery and activities tackling Modern Slavery both within the police and key stakeholders such as the Charity Sector, Home Office and County Council. This will enable them to make effective and realistic options and recommendations for change.
They will have a methodical, organised approach to their work combined with an eye for detail and strong academic research skills that will allow them to gather, analyse and evaluate information from a variety of sources to produce sound ecommendations for further action with minimal supervision and under deadlines. They will have the ability to present this information both in writing and through presentations in a clear manner to audiences from a wide variety of ackgrounds, therefore IT skills (particularly MS Office products) are essential.
The post holder will have strong communication skills which combined with the ability to negotiate and influence will enable them to build and maintain strong working relationships with external partners and enable common goals to be dentified and achieved through partnership working.
They will also have a strong interest in Modern Slavery related issues, on both a national and international level in order to maintain a detailed and up to date knowledge of new thinking and emerging trends. The ability to speak a foreign language fluently is a desirable trait but not essential to the role.

Advanced Information Searching (Level 4)
Possesses a detailed working knowledge of a range of operational police information systems. Accredited to an advanced level in the use of more than one of these systems and has a full understanding of all necessary operating rules and rotocols. Uses these systems to their full potential, to create and amend records, as necessary, and to retrieve information from complex searches across data source boundaries e.g. across a number of data sources, across the county. nderstands the significance of the search results and can provide guidance on the reliability of any further data analysis. Monitors data quality in the work of others using these systems and takes appropriate corrective action.
Health and Safety (Level 4)
Has received Supervisor training and takes responsibility for the safety of directly subordinate staff and visitors. Understands the procedures in place for the safe storage of hazardous substances, fire precautions and evacuation. resolves hazards or problems identified within roles or work environments. Undertakes skills passport assessments for new and existing staff. Re-assesses passport as and when new equipment /technology is introduced.Completes annual reviews of skills passports, training needs analysis.

Identifies the objectives of analysis and selects appropriate information needed to achieve these objectives. Uses effective methods, identifying any patterns or trends which emerge from the information and drawing conclusions which are upported by good evidence.
Information Management and Technology (Level 5)
Can retrieve information from computer searches across data source boundaries e.g. across a number of data sources, across county. Can analyse and compare data from such searches. Understands significance of findings and can provide guidance on the reliability of forecasts resulting from data analysis. Can monitor data quality in the work of others, and may manage the impact of data quality issues.

Management of Police Information (MOPI) (Level 3)
Has a basic understanding of the APP for Information Management (incorporating MOPI guidance) and its practical application. Recognises when there is a policing purpose to record information. Is familiar with the NPCC Retention Schedule. Takes personal responsibility to ensure information is recorded accurately and is retained for as long as it has a policing purpose and is stored in such way to allow it to be accessed by those with legitimate reason. Securely disposes of material which no longer has a policing purpose. Has successfully completed all standard relevant Information Management and Security, training package(s). Accurate use of Government Security Classification (GSC). Ensures physical and digital records are stored with appropriate security relevant to the sensitivity of the documents.
Office Technology (Level 3)
Able to utilise relevant Force standard office software products such as word- processing, spreadsheet, database, presentation and desktop publishing packages to a standard that matches the requirements of the current role in terms of quality and speed. Can operate other items of essential office technology such as photocopiers, facsimile machines, answerphones, shredders, in order to effectively undertake the requirements of the current role. Aware of the implications of Data Protection and acts appropriately in this respect.
Risk Management (Level 4)
Able to anticipate risks likely to affect the team's ability to execute their function, in terms of likelihood and impact, and assesses how the challenges facing the wider organisation might affect their team and their objectives. Has an understanding of pathways to alert local managers to flawed or ineffective operational control strategies and provide continuity/recovery options. Has an appreciation that seizing opportunities also generates risks.
Statistical Analysis (Level 4)
Fully conversant with the mathematical bases for many types of statistical calculation and analysis. Able to identify trends from available data and the requirements for further data gathering to improve the evidence base. Likely to possess abilities in mathematics and statistics equivalent to A-Level standard and/ or have equivalent experience. Familiar with common use of complex spreadsheets and analysis tools.
