Supervise a team of intelligence officers to gather, develop and disseminate intelligence in support of local and national crime investigations in line with strategic policing requirements and specified priorities. Co-ordinate and supervise the work of the SCD Force Intelligence Bureau in supporting National and local policing priorities at a county level. This will involve being a conduit between Division and SCD/MIT teams in respect of, investigation, tasking and disruption opportunities as well as intelligence flow.

Analyses results obtained from interviews etc., in order to identify further offences, offenders and lines of enquiry. Has an appreciation of the operating practices of the intelligence unit.
Has a basic understanding of the various types of drugs and paraphernalia used to administer and manufacture illegal substances. Has a good understanding of drugs related offences, relevant legislation, the evidence required to support further investigation and an awareness of the support and assistance that other investigative officers and agencies can offer.
Has received Supervisor training and takes responsibility for the safety of directly subordinate staff and visitors. Understands the procedures in place for the safe storage of hazardous substances, fire precautions and evacuation. Resolves hazards or problems identified within roles or work environments. Undertakes skills passport assessments for new and existing staff. Re-assesses passport as and when new equipment/technology is introduced.Completes annual reviews of skills passports, training needs analysis.
Up to date knowledge of informant handling policy and relevant best practice sufficient to the current role. Able to recognise possible sources of recruitment and liaise with the appropriate KPM Team.
Can conduct basic computer searches and can correctly interpret data generated. Can create and amend records, according to role requirement. Knows established rules and protocols. Understands impact of data quality, and is self-monitoring on data quality issues.
Has a good working knowledge of the intelligence function as a whole. Able to undertake intelligence gathering and analysis in conjuction with other organisations, generally involving more complex situations and/or level 2 targets.And/or supervises others who are analysing and gathering intelligence. Able to make decisions regarding the allocation of information received and when packages are put together, to make decisions as to their level of priority.
Has a thorough understanding of all legislation, policy and procedure relevant to the current role. Able to apply this and offer advice to colleagues as necessary.
Full compliance with Level 3. Has successfully completed all standard relevant Information Management and Security training package(s). Accurate use of Government Security Classification (GSC). Ensures physical and digital records are stored with appropriate security relevant to the sensitivity of the documents and has working understanding of appropriate National Retention Schedules. Is able to quality assure own records management processes as well as those of any staff for whom they have supervisory responsibility. Is aware of where to seek further support in relation to Records management within force when necessary. If nominated as an Information Asset Assistant is familiar with the NPCC Information Asset Owners Handbook.
Has a thorough understanding of research methods and is able to fully utilise these for a range of research projects. Able to analyse reports and data produced by other individuals/ organisations and extract relevant details to support the project in hand. Produces a range of options for consideration. Has a basic understanding of what surveillance equipment is available and is able to demonstrate a good working knowledge of the equipment that they have used. And have a good working knowledge for the acquisition and use of CCTV both in relation to police operations and in public and private systems, and demonstrates the ability to use these in practical situations.
