Develop, prepare and deliver Taser training through the national framework in line with relevant compliance criteria, policy and guidance. Ensure that training is kept up to date with any future developments or changes with the content and its delivery to ensure delivery of the Force plan and PFCC Police and Crime plan 2016 by ensuring that Taser trained officers can protect the public through the intelligent deployment of Taser recourses in response to spontaneous demand and specialist planned capabilities.

Hold a current Taser permit within Essex Police Ability to pass the TASER specific eyesight test. Successfully pass the Personal Safety Training Instructors Course. Ability to pass the TASER user, refresher and upskill course when required. Ability to pass the Police Job related fitness test. Possession or ability to pass the AET trainers course and maintain the qualification. Possession or ability to pass the TASER instructors course and maintain the qualification. Ability to research, plan, design, deliver and evaluate training programmes. Comprehensive knowledge and utilisation of all Microsoft packages.
This role requires the post holder to have a valid UK driving licence as they will be required to travel to a number of training locations across Essex. If using a private vehicle then the business insurance needs to be organised by the individual. A proportion of Trainers may be required to work a shift pattern in order to provide cover for training taking place outside of normal hours i.e. Monday Friday 0900-1700. The post holder will occasionally be required to work addition hours. Vetting is required, as advised by the vetting unit. The post holder will be required to undertake training as and when required. The post holder will be expected to comply with health and safety requirements.

Basic awareness of the principles against terrorist activity, the Security Alert Status Levels and relevant policies. Has successfully completed a Basic Driving Assessment and is authorised to drive police vehicles to a basic level. Authorised to use blue lights in accordance with force policy and conforms to all relevant legal requirements for the use of motor vehicles.
Able to exhibit the skills learned as part of the basic firearms or support group course and/or as a supervisor has received training in firearms response and is able to demonstrate a good knowledge of the issues concerning firearms incidents.
Accepts responsibility for the deployment and management of available resources in spontaneous firearms situations and tailors tactics in line with operational priorities. Is fully aware of firearms policies, specialist resources and equipment and can provide basic options for consideration by a Silver Commander.
Can take charge of a situation and render basic life support, if an injury or illness should occur, having satisfactorily completed (BLS) training covering choking, CPR, effective control of bleeding and the recovery position. Demonstrates competence to an approved standard and holds the required certificate. Retention of competence will be subject to basic refresher training and re-assessment every three years.
Has received Supervisor training and takes responsibility for the safety of directly subordinate staff and visitors. Understands the procedures in place for the safe storage of hazardous substances, fire precautions and evacuation. Resolves hazards or problems identified within roles or work environments. Undertakes skills passport assessments for new and existing staff. Re-assesses passport as and when new equipment/technology is introduced.Completes annual reviews of skills passports, training needs analysis.

Accurate use of Government Security Classification (GSC). Ensures physical and digital records are stored with appropriate security relevant to the sensitivity of the documents.
Confident and experienced in the application of restraint and self defence techniques to lawfully detain persons, with or without personal protective equipment. Able to identify a threat and overcome it by force if necessary. Demonstrates the ability to use training received to adhoc level PSU and able to understand and react to basic commands. Able to use the appropriate response to public order situations. Familiar with the standard phrases of command and is, therefore, able to co-ordinate teamwork and/or operate alongside others.
Able to anticipate risks likely to affect the team's ability to execute their function, in terms of likelihood and impact, and assesses how the challenges facing the wider organisation might affect their team and their objectives. Has an understanding of pathways to alert local managers to flawed or ineffective operational control strategies and provide continuity/recovery options. Has been trained in the skills and demonstrates the ability to apply elements of the staff safety programme.
