    People who live, work, and study in Harlow have told us they’re concerned about violent crime in particular knife crime. We’re taking action by:

    Hotspot Policing: Deploying officers to key locations and times where violent crime is more likely, maintaining a visible presence to deter violence and keep communities safe.

    Targeting Gangs and Offenders: Using local intelligence to identify and disrupt those involved in violent crime, including use of protective orders to manage impact on our communities.

    Education and Prevention: Working with the Safer Harlow Partnership to deliver crime prevention programmes in schools, helping young people stay safe and avoid involvement in violence. Setting up Youth Independent Advisory Groups to understand the views of our young community.

    Technology for Safety: Using tools like open gate and knife detection devices to raise awareness about the dangers of carrying weapons and engage with the community. completing knife sweeps at key locations.

    Education: Working with the Safer Harlow Partnership to deliver lessons and workshops in schools, helping young people understand the risks and make safer choices.

    Together, we’re committed to making Harlow a safer, stronger community for everyone.

    Partnerships: Collaborating with garages, dealerships, and car park operators to improve security measures like lighting and CCTV.

    Reporting and Updates: Encouraging residents to report suspicious activity and providing regular updates on incidents, arrests, and prevention successes.

    Cross Border Operations: Working with the Met Police and Hertfordshire Police on tackling vehicle crime that crosses all our borders.
