The public have told us they are concerned about hate crime in parts of the Southend district, particularly where there have been recent incidents, ongoing tensions, or repeat locations of concern.
We will focus on supporting communities who feel worried and may be less likely to report incidents, building trust, encouraging reporting, and helping to reduce fear and harm.
Issued 01 October 2026
Our priority is to build confidence, improve reporting, and reduce repeat incidents of hate crime.
Officers will carry out regular reassurance patrols, engage directly with affected communities, and provide support and opportunities to share information.
We will continue to work closely with community representatives and local groups to build long-term relationships, improve trust, and understand emerging issues.
We will ensure there are clear and accessible ways to report hate crime, including third-party reporting options, so people feel safe and confident to come forward.
A visible police presence will be maintained at key community locations and events, where appropriate, to provide reassurance and deter offending.
We will identify and take robust action against those responsible for hate crime and related incidents to prevent further harm.
We remain committed to working with all communities to ensure Southend is a safe place for everyone.
This remains in our priority and is in progress.
Actioned 01 October 2026
We are taking action to reduce incidents related to drugs, exploitation, and organised crime by focusing on engagement, prevention, early intervention, and visible policing.
Issued 01 October 2026
To address reports of this crime type across the Southend district, our officers are targeting drug activity and groups linked to violence, using patrols and proactive work to disrupt offending.
We are working with a focus to reduce this issue in the areas of London Road, Southend through Westcliff and Hamlet Court Road and Prittle Brook, Westcliff at key times, to include additional presence around the night-time economy, to prevent incidents and keep people safe.
We are committed to tackling harm and protecting our communities.
This remains in our priority and is in progress.
