Injury On Duty Pension (IOD) Reviews 2021 to 2022
01 May 2021 to 01 March 2022
In response to that request about the number of former officers in receipt of an IOD award who have had their IOD pensions reviewed, within the above time scale of 1st May 2021 to 1st March 2022, you responded: 12 in total.
Then in response to my request about the number of former officers in receipt of an IOD award who have attended an appointment with a Selected Medical Practitioner (SMP), within the above time scale, you responded: 10 in total.
There appears to be a discrepancy between the 12 ‘reviews’ actually having been carried out within the specified time period, as compared to the 10 persons, actually having attended a Selected Medical Practitioner's (SMP) appointment.
To clarify, can you please answer the following questions?
1. Did these two reviews of former officers in receipt of an IOD, not include an appointment with the SMP?
2. If that is the case, then what was the IOD banding of these two persons reviewed without an SMP appointment?
3. Were any of the reviews carried out as paper or ‘tabletop’ reviews. I.e. this is where a review is carried out on an IOD pensioner but does not include the involvement of an SMP's appointment?
4. Is there any policy determining which IOD bands under review, are, or are not referred, to an SMP?
5. If there is not such a policy and no paper or ‘tabletop’ reviews were carried out, can you please explain why these reviews were not referred to the SMP, as in the other cases?
The timescale remains the same from 1st May 2021 to 1st March 2022
