I am writing in regards to a ex Police vehicle i have recently purchased which was registered to Essex Police from new. I wish to request the service history and any other vehicle related paperwork for the Ford Focus Estate Style TDCI with the registration mark (REDACTED).

Reasoning 

Essex Police can neither confirm nor deny it holds information relating to your request by virtue of the exemption Section 40(5) Personal Information. An FOI disclosure is regarded as a disclosure to the world and is not a private transaction between the organisation and the applicant. The service history of a specific vehicle will contain unique identifiers such as the Vehicle Registration Mark (VRM) which are regarded as being the personal data of the current vehicle owner. Therefore to place such information in the public domain may identify living individuals.

In a Further Attempt to Assist Outside of the Act

We can confirm that the service history of an ex-Essex Police vehicle is provided to the Auctioneer at the time of transfer.
