A recent road safety operation in Brentwood has resulted in 113 drivers being reported for various traffic offences, reinforcing the critical need for vigilance and responsibility behind the wheel.
The operation aimed to improve safety on the roads and protect all road users.
As part of the initiative:
• 45 drivers were caught speeding
• 29 were found using a mobile phone while driving
• 31 were not wearing seatbelts
• 2 vehicles were seized
• 4 arrests were made for drug driving
These figures highlight the ongoing risks posed by dangerous and distracted driving. Each offence could contribute to a potential collision that can be prevented through greater awareness and compliance with road laws.
Every decision made behind the wheel can have life-altering consequences.
Speeding reduces reaction time, mobile phone use distracts attention, and not wearing a seatbelt significantly increases the risk of serious injury or death in a collision. Driving under the influence of drugs further impairs judgment and endangers everyone on the road.
We advise all our drivers to drive safely by:
• Obeying speed limits – They are there to protect all road users.
• Stay focused – Avoid using mobile phones or other distractions.
• Buckle up – Seatbelts save lives.
• Never drive under the influence – Alcohol and drugs impair your ability to drive safely.
• Be alert and considerate – Share the road responsibly with others.
This operation is part of an ongoing commitment to keeping Brentwood’s roads safe and we will continue to take action against those who put lives at risk.
