A convicted stalker has been remanded in custody after admitting further offences and breaching his Stalking Protection Order (SPO).
Christopher Allen, of The Walk in Eight Ash Green, had twice before been convicted of stalking and had previously breached the terms of both a suspended sentence and an interim SPO. He had previously been given a 57-day custodial sentence.
His offending had been considered so severe, we successfully applied for a full SPO which prevented Allen speaking to any woman alone once out of prison.
In June 2025 the 71-year-old followed young women around Witham and Colchester, offering them gifts and making unwanted, unreciprocated sexual comments.
These women quickly reported his offences to us and on 2 July he was arrested at his address on suspicion of stalking and two counts of breaching his SPO.
At Chelmsford Magistrates’ Court on 3 July he pleaded guilty to all three offences and was remanded in custody ahead of sentencing at Ipswich Crown Court on 4 August.
Sergeant Dan Sorrell said:
“This was only possible thanks to the proactive work of our officers and detectives – they have taken a dangerous man off the streets of Essex.
“We have successfully secured charges against him multiple times and have applied for the SPO in order to monitor his increasingly concerning behaviour.
“Allen was spending more than 12 hours a day following these women at their place of work and on public transport.
“He made it clear he knew their movements and made it impossible to avoid him.
“He will remain in prison while awaiting sentencing.”
Stalking Protection Orders are just one of the powers our officers use to monitor and restrict offender’s behaviour, or they face returning to prison as Allen has.
A breach of an SPO has a maximum custodial sentence of five years.
DS Sorrell added:
“These women did the right thing, bravely speaking to us about Allen despite his attempts to intimidate them.
“I’d like to thank them for their courage and hope this work shows the lengths we go to enforce these orders, and keep our communities safe.”
We're offering more ways for our communities to stay up to date with our work across Essex.
