We’ve been carrying out speed checks in response to residents’ concerns across Tendring.
In May, police community support officer Brandon undertook seven deployments in the villages of Alresford, Elmstead, Great Bentley and Thorrington, checking on hundreds of drivers.
The vast majority of drivers were travelling at safe and appropriate speeds.
PCSO Brandon says:
“This is really encouraging to see and shows that many of you are helping to keep our roads safe for everyone.
“While there were a small number of higher speeds recorded, it’s positive that most drivers are doing the right thing. Please continue to drive with due care and attention so we can all help keep our communities safe.”
All the checks took place in 30mph zones. The top speed recorded was 49mph. Altogether, 97 drivers will be reported for process after being recorded at travelling above the speed limit. They will receive a fine, with the option of a court hearing or, where appropriate, the opportunity to complete a speed awareness course.
We’d like to thank residents for your continued support. Your feedback helps shape where we go and what we focus on.
