A dispersal order is in place in Southend as officers respond to incidents of anti-social behaviour.
The order follows reports of anti-social behaviour and large groups of youths gathering in the city.
We are working closely with our partners to manage the situation this evening and ensure everyone can go about their activities with minimal disruption.
The dispersal order was put in place at 9.30pm on Friday 8 May and will run until 9.30pm on Sunday 10 May.
It gives officers the power to direct people causing, or suspected of causing, anti-social behaviour to leave the area or face arrest.
The order covers the area highlighted on the map and covers the seafront, High Street, Marine Parade, Warrior Square, Victoria and Royals shopping centres and both Southend Victoria and Southend Central train stations.
Inspector Emma Wells, from Southend’s Local Policing Team, said:
"Anti-social behaviour has a real impact on people’s sense of safety, and I want residents and businesses in the city to know that we understand the impact this type of behaviour has to know that we will not tolerate behaviour that causes fear, damage, or disruption in our community.
"We will be in the area, come and talk to us if you have any concerns. We’re here to ensure everyone can enjoy the weekend."
