We are working to reduce vehicle nuisance across the district.
Issued 30 June 2026
We are taking steps across the Basildon district to tackle the unsafe and illegal use of e-scooters and off-road motorbikes.
Residents have raised concerns about vehicles being ridden in pedestrian areas, and open spaces, putting people at risk.
We are working with a focus to reducing this issue in Cranfield Park and High Steet in Wickford. Northlands Park, Gloucester Park, Laindon Park and Basildon town centre in Basildon, plus Nevendon Park, Pitsea and Lake Meadows, Billericay.
Our Neighbourhood Policing Teams are carrying out regular patrols and acting where offences are identified.
Where appropriate, vehicles are being seized using Section 59 and Section 165 powers and those involved are being dealt with.
Our aim is to reduce risk, prevent harm and keep public spaces safe for everyone.
This remains in our priority and is in progress.
