Neighbourhood policing is about keeping our neighbourhoods safe. It’s about knowing your neighbourhood and understanding the things that matter to you. We want our neighbourhoods to have the confidence that we will keep you safe.
Neighbourhood Policing Teams have police officers, police community support officers, and special constables. They work to prevent crime, deter criminals and make sure those intent on causing our neighbourhoods harm are stopped.
Your Neighbourhood Policing Team will work with local organisations, authorities, and neighbourhood leaders. They will listen to neighbourhood concerns and find solutions to resolve problems.
We are working to reduce crime and safeguard vulnerable people, with a focus on policing our night time economy.
Issued 01 October 2026
Reporting to Essex Police and using the essex safety.commonplace platform has helped us to focus our visibility within the right locations.
We are increasing patrols within the areas of West Street, South Street and North Street, Rochford to reduce crime and anti-social behaviour and help people feel safer, especially at night.
Our priority is to make sure women and girls feel safe in public spaces.
Through Project Vigilant, we are deploying both plain clothes and uniformed officers in busy night-time areas. This allows us to spot and step in early if someone’s behaviour causes concern.
This visible and proactive approach helps prevent incidents, supports those who may feel vulnerable, and builds reassurance for residents and visitors.
We are committed to making our communities safer and more welcoming for everyone.
This remains in our priority and is in progress.

We are working to reduce vehicle nuisance across the district.
Issued 01 October 2026
We are taking steps across the Rochford district to tackle the unsafe and illegal use of e-scooters and off-road motorbikes.
Residents have raised concerns about vehicles being ridden in pedestrian areas, and open spaces, putting people at risk.
Our Neighbourhood Policing Teams are carrying out regular patrols and acting where offences are identified, and with particular focus to include the areas surrounding Ashingdon Road & Rochford Town Square.
Where appropriate, vehicles are being seized using Section 59 and Section 165 powers and those involved are being dealt with.
Our aim is to reduce risk, prevent harm and keep public spaces safe for everyone.
This remains in our priority and is in progress.
