We are running a three month operation , Project Vigilant, using funds provided by the government, to increase our presence in the night time economy in places where women and girls do not feel safe.

The operation involves the deployment of plain clothes and uniformed officers to identify and intercept those who might be displaying concerning behaviour and prevent offending whilst building our intelligence picture and dealing proactively with any identified offending.

Officers are directed to include patrols in this area as part of their daily deployments and when offenders are identified, we work closely with partner agencies to help those involved see how their actions are affecting other and prevent re-occurrence.

Anti social behaviour can seriously affect quality of life. We, patrol known hotspots using the latest intelligence. Enforce the Public Space Protection Order (PSPO) on Canvey. Work with council partners to prevent issues from escalating and support victims and help resolve problems quickly.
