Working to reduce crime and anti-social behaviour across the district, with a focus on policing our night time economy.
Issued 30 June 2026
Reporting to Essex Police and using the essex safety.commonplace platform has helped us to focus our visibility within the right locations.
We are increasing patrols within the areas of Furtherwick Road, Foksville Road, Long Road, The Driveway and The Parkway on Canvey Island to reduce crime and anti-social behaviour and help people feel safer, especially at night.
Our priority is to make sure women and girls feel safe in public spaces.
Through Project Vigilant, we are deploying both plain clothes and uniformed officers in busy night-time areas. This allows us to spot and step in early if someone’s behaviour causes concern.
This visible and proactive approach helps prevent incidents, supports those who may feel vulnerable, and builds reassurance for residents and visitors.
We are committed to making our communities safer and more welcoming for everyone.
This remains in our priority and is in progress.

We are working to make our public spaces safer in Castle Point, focusing on Canvey High Street and surrounding roads.
Issued 30 June 2026
We will work in close partnership with the local Community Safety Partnership at Castle Point Borough Council to focus on reported issues, such as anti-social behaviour around the Knightswick Centre and the one-way system on Canvey.
Our Officers are being directed to include patrols in this area as part of their daily deployments.
When offenders are identified, we will work closely with partner agencies to help those involved see how their actions are affecting others and prevent re-occurrence.
By focusing on early intervention and partnership working, we aim to keep our communities safer and confident.
This remains in our priority and is in progress.

We are working to reduce anti-social behaviour.
Issued 30 June 2026
We are taking steps to reduce anti-social behaviour within key location across the district, as we understand how this can seriously affect quality of life.
We are therefore focusing our patrols within known hotspots using the latest intelligence.
This will include a variety of locations, including:
Roscommon Way, and surrounding roads in Canvey, also subject of a Public Space Protection Order.
South Benfleet shopping parade in Benfleet.
The Common green area and Thundersley Village in Thundersley.
The High Street, John Burrows Park, and the areas of Hadleigh castle, Hadleigh bike park, and the Salvation Army café farm in Hadleigh.
We will increase our visibility and will work to reduce matters and take enforcement where required. We will include our council partners to prevent issues from escalating and support victims and help resolve problems quickly.
This remains in our priority and is in progress.
